The team

Rob Lubeznik-Warner

Rob Lubeznik-Warner, PhD

Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer

Rob brings more than 15 years of experience as an applied researcher, evaluator, and experiential educator to his role as Chief Science Officer at Fathom. His passion for youth development began in the field: working at a camp for people with disabilities, guiding trips for a YMCA tripping camp, and leading extended wilderness expeditions for Outward Bound and other organizations. That frontline experience still shapes his approach to research: practical, grounded in real programs, and built to be used.

Today, Rob is a research faculty member at a large state university and leads Delta Consulting Group as Principal Consultant, where he partners with local, national, and international youth-serving organizations on research and evaluation. He specializes in applying rigorous quantitative methods to real-world questions. His work includes psychometric scale development and testing, federally funded randomized controlled trials, and large-scale evaluations of youth-serving programs with over 20,000 participants annually. He has co-authored 18 peer-reviewed studies about camp and seasonal employment in the last five years.

Together, his passion for youth development and deep quantitative expertise mean seasonal employers get insights about their staff’s experiences that they can trust and act on.

Annie Bell

Annie Bell, PhD, RN, PHN

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Annie brings more than a decade of experience as a nurse, applied researcher, and evaluator to her role as Chief Technology Officer at Fathom. Trained as a public health scientist, she studies the social, environmental, and behavioral factors that shape adolescent development and family health. Over the past seven years, she has conducted research and program evaluations that support whole-person wellbeing and inform evidence-based practice and policy. She has extensive experience designing, programming, administering, and analyzing surveys, and pairs them with qualitative methods such as focus groups and community-engaged research. Her most recent study examined how TikTok influences adolescent diet and the role parents play.

Her commitment to public health began in the emergency room: five years as an ER nurse taught her how quickly good people burn out, and how much a supportive supervisor and a healthy culture can change that. She believes camp staff deserve that same support, because they create the place where youth lead, take risks, grow, and make memories that last a lifetime. Whether it’s a statistical model, a website, or something made with her hands, Annie loves to build, and six years of coding have taught her to build things people actually use. At Fathom, she makes your staff’s data accessible and actionable, so you can improve their experience and, ultimately, every camper’s.

Elizabeth Kimmelman

Elizabeth Kimmelman

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Liz is an experienced small business owner and camp director. She co-owns Tumbleweed Day Camp in Los Angeles with her husband, purchasing it in 2014. During the same summer she was in negotiations to purchase Tumbleweed, Liz founded Camp Ursa Major in Napa, California, and grew participation by over 200% in just three years. In 2018 she co-founded Dear Scout, a first-of-its-kind mental health service built specifically for the summer camp industry.

She is a former board member of the Western Association of Independent Camps and an avid volunteer for the American Camp Association, most notably as an accreditation visitor for over 15 years. She is also a former board member of the California Collaboration for Youth, the leading camp government advocacy group in California.

After nearly 20 years as a leader at summer camps big and small, day and overnight, private and non-profit, she is excited to put passion into practice with her work at Fathom by elevating the power of staff engagement as the key to the longevity of the camping industry.

Why “Fathom”?

Our passion for diving into the depth of knowledge and the unknown is woven into everything we do. It’s expressed in our bathymeter-inspired logo and in Marine, our little sea monster and protective mascot. It’s in the rigorous steps we take to make sure every step of the process, from surveys to charts and from analysis to reporting, passes the highest standards. We are constantly seeking out what lurks deeper in the minds and hearts of teams everywhere, to bring to the surface the critical knowledge that elevates performance and propels your business forward.

No longer does the thought “I can’t fathom why…” cross your mind when it comes to the actions of your team. Now you can fathom why they need help; why they feel down; why camper numbers are low. Now you can fathom how to change course; how to pinpoint exactly where the challenge is; how you can rise above and beyond. Go ahead, Fathom away.

A different approach

  • Passionate

The work we do brings us back day after day to make your world better. We truly love puzzling out the whys and hows of teams and employee ecosystems. We spend hours nerding out over how we can make our systems better for you and your businesses.

  • Industry-driven

We care deeply about what keeps you up at night. Before entering any industry, be it camps or ski resorts, we engage the top leaders and thinkers in the industry to truly understand what is needed to help build the best system possible. This is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We are here to help solve your problems.

  • Uniquely focused

This is it. This is all we do. We are zoned in and focused on one thing: building the best employee engagement system out there. While it’s complex from a research and methodology standpoint, it’s not complicated. We are using the highest standards to support you and your teams in getting better and better with instant knowledge and care. We aren’t out here to be a little Swiss Army knife. Think of us more as your Hattori Hanzo sword.

  • For the love of the team

At the end of the day, we are committed to this work because we know that taking care of our staff is the most important task we as employers have. We know from copious amounts of research that higher engagement means better business outcomes. The more connected your staff feel to their work, the better their customer service will be. The more cared for your employees feel, and the better their wellbeing is, the lower your stress will be. It’s a win-win-win. And we love winning.
